The South Pole neutrino telescope IceCube is the world's largest particle detector. It encompasses a cubic kilometer of ice and is fitted with a large number of digital optical modules. Registering neutrinos, these sensors help us understand where cosmic rays come from and learn more about events such as gamma ray bursts and supernovae.
Two lecturers from the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Medicine have been honored for their teaching with a strong emphasis on real-life practice, such as exercises for emergencies, by Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
RWTH Aachen has an excellent reputation in the business field. The university ranking in the magazine "Wirtschaftswoche" proved this. The magazine placed RWTH Aachen in first place for engineering and the natural sciences, in its April 8, 2013 issue.
