RWTH Aachen self assessments are online advising processes for deciding what to study. Participation in one (rarely two) of these self assessments is mandatory. You can find which self assessment you need to take for this subject in the course of study description under "Prerequisites". Since the winter semester 2006/07, the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Architecture provides a five-year modular degree program with two phases in compliance with the Bologna Declaration.The comprehensive three-year Bachelor degree program concludes with the academic degree »Bachelor of Science in Architecture«. Afterwards, students can choose to continue their education in one of the two four-semester Master degree programs available. The Masters program concludes with either the title
»Master of Science in Architecture« or »Master of Science in Urban Planning« of RWTH Aachen.
The Bachelor at the Aachen faculty of Architecture is based on project-related seminars and modules, which always integrates cross-subject courses - the program is built up consecutively. From the beginning, the teachings mirror the great variety of subjects. One third of the study volume is devoted to composition, one third to construction and technology and one third to the theoretical, artistic and cultural studies. It is a commonplace that the main task lies in composition. It is flanked by subjects which serve to further the scientific foundation and the compassing of architecture and city in all their aspects on a conceptional and artistic level. The greatest share is given to the compulsory trainings, elective modules allow for a sufficient freedom of selection and learning.
The Bachelor is an admission prerequisite for the Master Studies of Architecture and Urban Planning. The graduates of the Bachelor Studies Architecture at RWTH Aachen are admitted without further examinations.
An Academic coordinator advises the students of the Bachelor degree program in organizational and coordinative questions. They act as a communication interface between professors and students and coordinate the teaching contents within the individual modules. They are open to all questions, suggestions, criticism and ideas for improvement from the students and convey these into the corresponding Faculty committees. They contribute significantly to the improvement, integrity, and further development of the newly established Bachelor degree program.
