Progress of Postdoctoral Lecture Qualifications
The Post-doctoral lecture qualification procedure is described below.
1. Persons wishing to obtain a post-doctoral lecture qualification from the Faculty for Georesources and Materials
Engineering should inform the post-doctoral lecture qualification committee of their intention via the Dean in due
time, i.e. at least six months prior to the application. The intention to obtain a post-doctoral lecture qualification will
then be announced at the next post-doctoral lecture qualification committee meeting.
2. The application is made by submitting the post-doctoral lecture qualification thesis and the documents specified in
section 4 of the post-doctoral lecture qualification Regulations to the Dean of the faculty.
3. At the next post-doctoral lecture qualification committee meeting, the Dean opens the post-doctoral lecture
qualification process and the assessors are appointed. The Dean then requests them to provide their assessments.
At least two external assessments and an internal assessment by the faculty itself must be obtained.
4. When the assessments have been received, they are submitted to the members of the post-doctoral lecture
qualification committee. The period required to read these documents is two weeks during term time and six weeks
during the semester break.
5. At the next meeting after the end of this period, the post-doctoral lecture qualification committee votes on whether to
accept the thesis or not. The committee selects one of the three topics proposed by the application for the
45-minute public lecture with discussion (max. 30 minutes).
6. The public lecture takes place within four weeks of the applicant receiving notification of the lecture topic from the
Dean.
7. At the post-doctoral lecture qualification committee's next meeting, a final decision on the post-doctoral lecture
qualification and the venia legendi is made.
