Broad and In-Depth Research with Orientation towards Application

The Department of Mathematics belongs to those German departments with strong research activities, as shown  by international rankings such as the CHE Excellence ranking that ranks Aachen in the Excellence Group. All major areas of mathematics are represented ranging from Algebra to Stochastics, each with a certain focus on applications. Various research groups conduct interdisciplinary research and are actively connected to other faculties, Forschungszentrum Jülich or other institutions.
