Internship at RWTH Aachen

 

The Department of Mathematics at RWTH Aachen offers in internship all students in the upper level at a Gymnasium.  Throughout the internship, participants gain an understanding of content typical to a chair or institute, and thus gain insiught into modern mathematics at the University.  In particular, students will be introduced to various computer systems, such as the computer algebra system MAPLE, the nummerical system MAPLE/Scilab, and a statistics packet.  The priority here, is for students to achieve a practical understanding of the systems.  Furthermore, they will also have the opportunity to learn about graph theory, the theory of probability, statistics, and numerical mathematics.

The internship only takes place during the lecture-free period (around the middle of Februar till the beginning of April, and middle of July till beginning of October) with a few exceptions. Furthermore, at least three students per internship period must participate.  Therefore, we recommend looking for other interested individuals (including at other schools) before registering.
