5th Economic Congress, Bayreuth:
On June 13 and 14, 2013, the University of Bayreuth will again be hosting its Economic Congress. With up to 1500 participants, this Congress is one of the largest economics platforms in Europe for dialog at tertiary level. Individual presentations, podium discussions, and workshops are offered to students, specialists, and managers, enabling them to exchange experiences of and gain insight into different institutions and industries.
One great advantage of the Congress is that it enables students to forge contacts with different companies via workshops and networking dinners. Students can also apply for one of the scholarships which are provided by well known companies (covering travel and hotel costs)
For more detailed information, please take a look at the invitation ( Einladung ).
New at RWTH Aachen University:
Job Shadowing - Job Shadowing involves one person observing another person carrying out her or his work. It is done for one day. Unlike in an internship, the student is not working herself or himself, but watching somebody else working.

New Regulations for Undertaking an Internship for B.Sc. Business Administration Students in Accordance with the Regulations for Examinations BPO 2011
For those students who have enrolled for the degree program "B.Sc. in Business Administration" as of the winter semester 2010/2011 or those who have switched and are now studying in accordance with the new Regulations for Examinations of February 8, 2011, the new Regulations for Undertaking an Internship in Accordance with the Regulations for Examinations BPO § 16, Clause (4) and Appendix 3 (passim) are applicable.
In particular, the obligation of the intern to "engage in at least two different business adminstrative areas" has been waived. The new Regulations state in § 2, Clause (2) (Duration and Potential "Splitting Up" of the Internship) that
"it is possible to split up the 12 weeks into 2 separate internships, possibly in different companies. Each part of the internship must be of at least 4 weeks' duration. Typical areas are: accounting and finance (including taxation), selling (including marketing), buying and procuring, production planning and production control, materials logistics, logistics, human resources, planning and organization, controlling and auditing".
This amendment also applies correspondingly for those students who continue to study in accordance with the older Regulations for Examinations BPO 2005. Students can of course still undertake their internships in 2 different business administrative areas if they so chose.
