Combined Expertise: The Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA)
The Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA) between the RWTH Aachen University and the Research Centre Jülich conducts top-level research on the key challenges of our time. The shared goal is to harness synergies and interlink knowledge in order to achieve insights for the future.
Focusing competence - shaping the future: in the Jülich-Aachen Research Alliance, known as JARA for short, RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich have established a model that is unique in Germany in order to overcome the insularity of university and non-university research and teaching.
Contact
The Alliance has thus established a scientific environment that is in the top international league and is attractive to the brightest researchers worldwide.
It opens up opportunities to realize research projects that would not be possible for one partner alone
Over and above pure research, the collaboration in JARA also encompasses the fields of education, infrastructure, knowledge transfer, and services. These fields create the necessary conditions for research and the applications arising from this research.
Amongst other aspects, our scientists are currently investigating more efficient energy production and utilization, opening up possibilities for the early diagnosis and treatment of psychological and neurological diseases, developing the physical basis for new memories and processors for computers, and optimizing research and development projects through computer simulations.
The two partners, RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich, thus selectively link research fields in which they have complementary expertise.
JARA currently has four key research areas:
| JARA-BRAIN |
Translational Brain Medicine
|
| JARA-FIT |
Fundamentals of Future Information Technology
|
| JARA-HPC |
High-Performance Computing
|
| JARA-ENERGY |
