Professionalisation of Faculty Management


The goal of this measure is to aid the faculties in their everyday activities by hiring additional qualified administrative staff. Based on the new governance principles of competition and flexible funding, the deans are given greater leeway for decision-making - the provision of equipment for professorships, for instance, may now be tied to success in research and teaching. This requires a stronger professionalisation at the faculty level.

The improvement in faculty management shall be realized through a professional implemention of the essential tasks of each individual Faculty and an exchange of experiences with the Central University Administration and the Faculties.

As part of its Institutional Strategy, RWTH Aachen has provided resources for twelve additional staff positions, which have been allocated according to the actual size and requirements of the Faculties. After the funding period, these positions will be largely financed through Faculty funds.
