Division 4.3 - Career Development

The Division of Career Development belongs to the Department of Technology Transfer, Research Funding, and Career Development in RWTH Aachen Central University Administration. The division supports students, doctoral candidates, post docs, and professors with their career development.

 

Our Responsibilities

This division offers programs tailored to specific target groups and individual advising and coaching services for the respective target group.  Through the Dual Career Service, we address all questions and matters regarding the topic of dual careers.

The services are bundled into various programs and competence centers:

Career Center

The Career Center is the point of interaction between the job market and RWTH Aachen University.  Here students and graduates can find support for entering  into and exiting the industry and economy.  Femtec is an additional career building program for women in engineering and the natural sciences.  Furthermore, the Career Center has a number of services available to companies, that wish to grow with RWTH Aachen graduates.

Center for Doctoral Studies

The Center for Doctoral Studies (CDS) is the central office for extracurricular qualifications for doctoral candidates.  The CDS offers all doctoral candidates a comprehnsive semester program for expanding their transferable skills.  As proof of all your achieved qualifications during your doctoral studies, the CDS wissues you a doctorate supplement, that is given to you with your doctorate diploma.  The CDS accompanies the Forum for Female Doctoral Candidates, a forum for supporting young female researchers at RWTH Aachen.

 

Academic Career Development Specifically for Postdocs and Regular Academic Staff

We support regular academic staff and researchers in the post doc phase with this program and special trainings, such as management, networking, strategic career planning, and preparing for application processes.

Starter Kits: Program for Excellent Management in Science

This program is specifically designated for professors at RWTH Aachen.  We offer special services for new professors, but also offer and manage external coaching and further education opportunities, such as internal trainings specifically for professors, in order to support their performance and management abilities.

Dual Career

The Dual Career program helps top researchers and their families to quickly feel at home in Aachen.
