Division 7.4 - External Funding and Taxes

Division 7.4 - External Funding and Taxes structurally belongs to the Department of Finance and Purchasing within RWTH Aachen's Central University Administration.

 

Our Responsibilities

One of the main tasks of the Division for External Funding and Taxes is, for one, external funding issues and their income tax and tax treatment as part of a government owned commercial operation. In the area of external funding, the concentrations are on contract reviews and negotiations with external funding partners from national and international companies and organizations and approval and contractual issues as part of publicly funded projects.

The administrative handling of external funding projects rests on the respective university insitutition.

Moreover, in conjunction with divisions 7.2 - Account Management and Bursar and 9.1 - Legal Services performance deficiencies, default actions and bankruptcy and composition cases are also managed in connection with externally funded projects.

In Taxes the focus is on taxation of government owned commercial operations. This includes preparing annual corporate and business tax returns and handling particular questions that arise in this area.

The sales tax classification of externally funded projects is also handled by the Division for External Funding and Taxes. Due to some overlapping in the area of sales tax there is collaboration with the tax group in the Division of Account Management and Bursar on special issues.
