Through the Family Services Center provided by the Equal Opportunities Office, RWTH supports parents in their attempt to accommodate their studies, research and work with their family duties. Besides the manifold range of counseling services and informative meetings, the Family Services Center also helps parents to find an adequate child care and attends to the organization of daycares in general. The lack of sufficient childcare services still poses a problem for young researchers at RWTH Aachen as well as for the recruitment of high-class researchers.
There is no sufficient amount of childcare available, especially for children under the age of three, for whom parents are usually searching for a daycare within the vicinity of their work place. In order to help parents to plan their further scientific career, an additional U3 daycare group shall expand the range of services.
