Since April 2009, Frank Haarmann has been heading the Junior Research Group "Modern Structure Analysis of chemically complex Systems by high resolution experimental Methods" which is currently being establihed.
Frank Haarmann studied chemistry at Dortmund University, where he was awarded the doctoral degree in 2001. He first worked as research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden. He worked on research projects at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Great Britain, the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France and the Hahn-Meitner Institute in Berlin.
