CV

Since November 2009 Prof. Dr. Anett Schallmey has been heading the “Biocatalysis” Junior Research Group at the Chair of Biotechnology. The group deals with the application of enzyme-catalyzed reactions for the synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. This includes the identification and characterisation of new biocatalysts, enzyme optimization by protein design as well as preparative-scale biotransformations. The focus lies on the application of oxygenases and in the optimization of whole-cell biocatalytic processes.

From 1999 to 2004, Anett Kirschner studied biochemistry with a focus on biotechnology at the University of Greifswald. She completed her summa cum laude doctorate on “The recombinant Baeyer Villiger Monooxagenases from pseudomonas fluorescens – studies on the natural function and employment of organic synthesis” in a working group headed by Prof. Dr. Uwe Bornscheuer in Greifswald in 2007. Prior to her call as a junior professor she worked as a postdoc in the area of biocatalysis at the University of Groningen.
