University Adventure Playground - What is that?

University Adventure Playground is a holiday recreation service from the RWTH Aachen Family Services Center. Holiday recreation has been offered under this name since 2000, during the school breaks for Easter, summer, and fall

Who can play along?

Children of RWTH Aachen students and employees and Aachen University hospital employees may participate if they are between six and twelve years of age.

 

That's Why Vacation Recreation Exists

The service was started in order to give employed and student parents the possibility to have their children competently supervised during schol breaks. The service of the "University Adventure Playground" illustrates an improvement to the compatability of family and career, research, or studies.

Play Groups

There are one to two gropus per vacation recreation, each with 15 to 20 children, led by a state recognized caretaker. All vacation play groups are integrative. Groups are small and outfitted with more supervisory personnel. Please contact the Family Services Center before registering to discuss exact details.

 

Our Vacation Recreation

For fans of sports and games and children looking for a real adventure, you can find the right holiday free time activity for you. Children do crafts and play outside and inside at the Media and Culture Center Philipp-Neri-Haus during the Easter, summer, and autumn breaks..

A trip will also take place during the second week of summer vacation. We will provide a more detailed program soon.

 

Things to Know

Daily Schedules & Mealtimes

Children and their supervisors go on exciting discovery and experience tours in the Euregio and within our university during the time of supervision. An adventure playground day starts with a collective "green" breakfast. We place great value on a balanced, self prepared breakfast. Excursions and games start afterwards. At lunch there is either a warm meal prepared by the particpants at the Philipp-Neri-Haus, a meal at one of the Student Services cafeterias, or a self-packed lunch for on the road.
Please note: Supervision begins with handing a child over to a supervisor and ends when the child is given back to a guardian.

 

On The Road During Vacation Recreation

Your child will need a bus ticket, unless otherwise noted, so that our services during the time of supervision can take place according to the schedule. If your child already has a bus ticket, for example the ASEAG School-&Fun-Ticket, he or she can use this. If your child does not have a ticket, we recommended the Week Ticket for ASEAG public transportation. This costs abut five euros a week. If you would like to use this ticket for your child, please make a note of this in the registration form. We will take care of procuring the ticket for your child.
