Actively Living the Role as a Father

Each semester the Väterarbeit Project offers events, campaigns, and sensitization measures on the topic of fatherhood should be implemented. The focus will be particularly placed on supporting and encouraging fathers, who wish to have a more active roll in raising their children or generally have problems making their career or studies compatible with their family. Men interested in having children will also be addressed.

 

Design and Sensitization

At the beginning of the Väterarbeit Project, an interview study took place with nine fathers from various status groups at RWTH Aachen. The interviews, in which those polled actively and volunatarily participated, document highly diverse life situations and models of fatherhood at RWTH Aachen. The results of the survey and the package of measures building on top of them were summarized in a preliminary report (de).  You can also get a printed version upon request.

 

Stammtisch for Fathers

The Aachener Väterstammtisch is an open service for fathers or interested men of any age. It serves as a platform for fathers who are studying, completing doctoral studies, or work, for discussion and support. Furthermore, it offers the possibility for fathers to contribute their own topics and ideas.  All those interested are welcome to attend, just come by.
