Promotion of Equality

The Equal Opportunities Officer and their alternate representatives support the university with its promotion of women and equal opportunities. They are particularly involved in the University's development planning, in structural and human resources discussions, the carrying out and further development of funding guidelines and the improvement of work and study conditions with regards to all questions dealing with equal opportunities. In collaboration with representatives from the faculties, the officer is involved in hiring and appointment procedures, in promotion of equal opportunities.

Flexibilization of Gender Roles

Orientation measures for studies and vocational training at RWTH Aachen are organized for school children. The measures should contribute to a flexibilization of traditional roles for men and women. This includes Girls‘ Day for girls, Mädchen in Technik und Handwerk to promote girls in typical male career fields, Sample Studies and tasteMINT for female school students in the upper grades, and tasteMint for teacher training students to promote girls in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology, and  Boys‘ Day for boys.

Gender Neutral Language

Equality starts with language.  According to Section 4 of the State Equal Opportunities Act, the University must ensure that linguistic equality is used in official writing, to avoid the discrimination of men or women.  Thus, RWTH Aachen uses gender neutral language.
