Work-Life Balance
The term work-life balance describes the weighting and the association of work and private life and encompasses various measures that should create or promote a balance between these spheres of life. Through various work-life balance measures, RWTH Aachen pursues the goal of enabling a successful work life for its employees, against the background of private, social, and health demands.
Advising & Help
Individual advising on the compatability of work and family, childcare, and care for family members is available from the
Family and Work in Harmony
The compatability of career and family is put into focus, with new working hours models, flexible applications, and a family-friendly management style. The RWTH Aachen Equal Opportunities Office is working on a comprehensive, integrated work-life balance concept, which contains supportive efforts for RWTH Aachen employees, thus also bringing along important advantages for university development and employees.
Successful Measures
Within the framework of RWTH Aachen's staff development, further training, in which work-life balance is also addressed, is offered by the Equal Opportunities Office, among others, to various target groups at the university. One example is the workshop "Karriere und was noch" that was conceptualized for doctoral candidates and young researchers with doctoral degrees, so that they can find the balance between work interests and familial obligations and make career and family planning compatible with each other in a way that is practical for researchers and their partners. In particular strategies for avoiding career setbacks should be developed and imparted.
