Quality Management and Development in Learning and Teaching

Learning and teaching have long been the step children of complex responsibilities and numerous activities in higher education. Student complete their assessments and written works, but topics such as quality development or assurance in teaching and learning were altogether considered but underdeveloped.  However, at RWTH Aachen, a clear noticeable awarness of teaching had begun in the nineties, through the construction of a comprehensive evaluation and the systematic collection and rating of rankings.

Strategic Goals Anchored in Mission Statement

The university views the targeted, aligned with participants, transparent implementation of different instruments for improving teaching and the controlling of the respective measures as the primary tasks in quality management. The strategic goals and the resulting fundamentals of teaching and learning appear in RWTH Aachen's mission statement, which builds an orientation framework for the development of the university.

Practice Relevant Quality Goals in Teaching and Learning

  2. Increase of Student Contentment
  3. Intensive and Comprehensive Supervision for Students
  4. Deconstruction of Learning Hurdles
