Pursuing your Doctorate at an internationally Competitive Level

NRW Research Schools, which receive funding from the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, make it possible for outstanding doctoral candidates to take part in a fast-track doctoral program. In order to guarantee an excellent doctoral education and training, these schools involve high-profile research institutions of the host university. Candidates receive a full scholarship so that they can fully concentrate on completing their doctorate.

At NRW Research Schools, international graduates and doctoral candiates are explicitly encouraged to apply: One of the aims of the NRW Research School program is to promote internationalization at the NRW universities.

The schools receive considerable funding from the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the Federal State of NRW.

NRW Research Schools at RWTH Aachen

BrenaRo - Fuel Production from Renewable Resources
The Research School educates experts in the arena of energy generation and renewable raw materials. It provides an excellent doctoral program in the field of Applied Information Technology / Computer Science.

Bonn-Aachen International Research School of Applied Informatics (B-IT)
The B-IT Research School offers a PhD program for outstanding students who have completed the B-IT Master's Programs in Media Informatics and Life Science Informatics, but also accepts applications from excellent international students from outside B-IT to apply. The PhD program is entirely taught in English.

The B-IT Research School is run by RWTH Aachen University and the University of Bonn with participation of the Bonn-located Fraunhofer Institutes.
