Encouraging and demanding top-level performance at all levels - this is one of the University's standards as formulated in its "RWTH 2020" Institutional Strategy. Thus RWTH supports researchers in conducting their research projects and provides them with multiple services, assisting them with the acquisition of research funds, bringing innovation to market, generating ideas, and executive development activities.
Exploratory Research Space (ERS): Generating and Developing Innovative Ideas
The generation of new and unconventional research ideas cannot be planned. In order to support creative, innovative research, RWTH has established the "Exploratory Research Space." The goal is to create leeway for creativity and support the process of generating ideas. Furthermore, ERS provides several funding instruments – such as Seed Funds and Boost Funds – to support the realization and development of promising innovative ideas of our researchers.

Inventions, Patents, and Business Start-Ups
RWTH offers advisory services on the innovation process to all researchers at the University, with special emphasis on the protection of intellectual property. It also provides support with setting up and growing high-tech businesses and establishes contacts with partners in business and industry.
Interdisciplinary Forums
Multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration has a longstanding tradition at RWTH Aachen University. In recent years, the cooperation and interaction of researchers from different fields has provided the basis for many innovative product and process solutions.
Career and Executive Development
RWTH Aachen provides newly appointed professors and postdocs with continuing education opportunities, such as seminars, workshops, and individual coachings.
