With automation and robotics moving into underground mining, certain basic structures have to be developed and implemented. Amongst others position information need to be available. Different approaches and systems for indoor positioning system appear to be suitable candidates. However only a deeper analysis will reveal which is the best method with regard to features like e.g. precision, availability, and investment. At Institute for Mineral Resources Machine Technology we will consider the results of this analysis for setting the focus of our future research.

Task

-Conduct literature research to elicit state of the art technologies in indoor positioning -Develop and conduct an analytic hierarchy process analysis (AHP) -Establish rankings, choices, prioritization, benchmarking, etc. for the AHP -Carry out field research
