Aside from completing a stay within the framework of exchange programs, international students also have the opportunity to participate in structured mobility programs at RWTH Aachen. The programs are partially oriented towards specific target groups. Please read carefully to see if you are eligible for a certain program. UROP International and the TIME Program are the only programs, for which application takes place through the International Office. You can get additional information about the other programs with regard to the conditions of participation and the application process at your home university or the responsible organization.
T.I.M.E Double Master's Program
This Double Master's Program is targeted towards engineering students from France who study at one of the Grandes Écoles Paris, Nantes, Lille, Lyon, and Marseille, and towards students from the Swedish KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, the Universidad de Valencia, the Bauman University in Moscow, the Polish Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, the Universidade de Sao Paulo in Brazil and the Japanese Keio University.
Ecole des Mines de Douai
The Double Master's program is targeted towards mechanical engineering students from the Ecole des Mines de Douai in France. For this program, the same conditions and application process apply as for the TIME Double Degree Program. You can get information about the application process directly from your home university, which is also responsible for the selection of candidates.
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, UROP for short, is targeted towards undergraduate students at North American universities who are interested in working on a ten-week research project at RWTH Aachen.
The Global E3 network is targeted towards interested exchange students in engineering – industrial engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, materials science and materials engineering, mineral resources and raw materials engineering. If interested, please check whether or not you are studying at one of the participating universities and contact the international office at your home university, as they are responsible for nominating you.
The universities TU Delft in the Netherlands, ETH Zürich in Switzerland, Chalmers in Sweden, and RWTH Aachen compose the European network IDEA League. Students from these universities can come to RWTH Aachen either for a joint degree or a research project. Students apply through their own home university. Please contact your university directly for additional information.

IIT Master Sandwich Programm
RWTH Aachen is involved in the DAAD program for students from the Indian Institutes of Technology, who complete their seven-month Master's thesis at RWTH Aachen. You can get information about the application process and the scholarship directly from the DAAD or your home university.
The Summer Exchange Research Program, SERP for short, is open to students from Tokyo Institute of Technology, during which they can complete a two- to three- month research internship at a RWTH institute. Strategic Partnership with Tsinghua University
Within the framework of the strategic partnership with Tsinghua University students, doctoral candidates, and visiting researchers from Tsinghua University can come to RWTH Aachen for 1 week to 6 months and are sponsored with a scholarship. Peter Hartges is the contact person for all questions regarding the strategic partnership.
Tsinghua Double Master's Program
Students from Tsinghua University can come to RWTH Aachen for two semesters and study here and write a mini-thesis as part of the Tsinghua Double Master's Program. They acquire a degree from both RWTH Aachen and Tsinghua University. Part of the program includes participation in an intensive German course every September. Contact your home university for further information.
Students at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok Thai-German Graduate School, TGGS for short, can come to RWTH Aachen as part of the TGGS Program for a lab internship or Master's thesis. TGGS selects candidates itself, so please contact your home university directly.
Students at the University of Science and Technology in Beijing can come to RWTH Aachen for 4 to 5 semesters to complete a whole Master's degree in metallurgical engineering. The program begins each September. You can get information from Lin Shang.
