University Sports Center
More than 70 Sports
The University Sports Centre, which is located on Königshügel, is open to all members of RWTH Aachen University and the University of Applied Sciences Aachen (FH). The Centre hosts extensive leisure and sports facilities such as gyms, fitness rooms, weights rooms, a pool, a beach sports area, a football field, a modern running track as well as tennis courts. For sports such as climbing or riding, the Sports Centre cooperates with various sports centres in and around Aachen. Most water sports courses offered by the Sports Centre take place at Wildenhof, a university-owned property at the Rursee lake.
Sports on offer include aerobics, badminton, cross training, fencing, climbing, football, canoeing, dancing, table-tennis, and many more. Many sports classes are free, but for some courses and access to facilities such as tennis courts, tickets have to be booked and a small fee paid. If you want to participate in a class, make sure to book on time. Bookings are typically made through the website of the Sports Centre (link in German).
Reservations
Groups have the opportunity to use the gym at the weekends (please make reservations!). There is a lottery through which groups may also obtain free slots during the week. For more information on booking the gym and other facilities, please contact Ms Bakels of the University Sports Centre.
Public Provider
There are a host of other sports and recreational facilities as well as sports clubs throughout Aachen. A good overview is provided by the Stadtsportbund website (link in German). You can also buy a brochure at various Aachen shops.
