Particular Interests of International Students
The Foreign Students' Representation is one of the first points of contact for international students at RWTH Aachen University. It was established to make sure that the interests of international students at RWTH are duly represented. The nine members of the AV are yearly elected by the international student body and the small group of stateless students.
Studies and Culture
The AV provides international students with guidance and advice on just about anything relating to living and studying in Aachen. Further, it organises cultural events, collaborates with diverse international initiatives, offers support to international societies at the university and organises as well as attends international conferences.
Legal Advising
The AStA provides RWTH students with legal advice by a professional lawyer free of charge.
In addition, the AV offers advice on legal issues of special relevance to international students, such as relating to immigration and visa issues, residence permit, etc. The consultations with a professional lawyer are free of charge.
Make an Appointment
In both cases, appointments must be made with the ASta or the AV. You have to visit the AStA offices to make an appointment and leave a deposit of ten euros which will be refunded when you show up for your appointment.
During the semester, waiting times for an appointment are about one to two weeks.
Again, we wish to emphasize that legal advice for students arranged by the ASta and the AV is free of charge.
