Regular Exam Cancellations
A regular exam cancellation is a cancellation without submitting any reasons up to seven days before the exam date. Depending on the course of study, you can either never cancel, cancel once per exam subject, or cancel as often as you would like. Refer to your exam regulations [LINK zu den POs] or contact your departmental advisor to find out which applies to you.
If your exam regulations allow such a cancellation, you can cancel in one of the following ways up to seven days before the exam:
- in person during ZPA office hours
- via fax or mail (include your student ID number, your course of study, and the exam you would like to cancel)
- or via email with a scanned application
You can also authorize an individual to cancel for you in person in the ZPA.
If your course of study requires you to cancel your exam registration online, and the exam you would like to cancel is in the VZPA, you can do so in CAMPUS Office under "Prüfungsanmeldung/Prüfungsabmeldung“.
There are many dates for oral exams that the ZPA is not aware of. For these exams, you must cancel in person in the ZPA. Please have the exact exam date with you when you cancel. Please remember that this must occur seven days before the exam date.
Withdrawl
Withdrawl takes place by submitting a reason and is not restricted to the cancellation deadline of seven days before the exam. If you want to withdrawl from an exam after the cancellation deadline has passed, this is only possible if you submit an application to the responsible examination board or submit a doctor's note to the ZPA.
If for example you are sick and cannot take the exam, please submit a doctor's note immediately. You can either:
- submit it in person in the ZPA or the SuperC info desk
- have it submitted by an authorized person
- or mail it
Please note: You cannot withdraw due to illness via telephone or e-mail.
If you are so ill on the examination day, that you cannot go to the doctor, you need to go as soon as possible afterwards. Have the practice issue you a retroactive note, stating you were not well enough to take the exam. Then submit the doctor's note immediately to your case worker in the ZPA.
Cancellation & Withdrawl FAQS
I have an exam today and am sick. What do I do?

Can I also cancel my registration for an exam via telephone or e-mail, if I am sick?
No, unfortunately that is not possible. Cancellations due to illness can only be accepted by the ZPA if you have a doctor's note. Here you can find more information on exam cancellation due to illness. [Sprungmarke zum entsprechenden Punkt].

Normally, you do not need to see the University doctor, but rather you can go and see the doctor of your choice. However, if you often have the need to cancel exams due to illness, the examination board can require you to get a doctor’s note from the University doctor or another doctor of their choosing.
How often can I cancel my exam registration?
That depends on your exam regulations. In most cases, you are allowed to cancel once up to seven days before the exam day. However there are also exam regulations that do not allow any cancellations or that do not restrict the number of times you can cancel.
