Funds are received from STIBET, the scholarship and counselling programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Grant holders will be selected by an RWTH allocation commission.

Who is Eligible?

International students of RWTH Aachen University who come mainly from developing countries.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • It is expected that applicants will be completing their programme successfully within the next 12 months, and they must provide a statement by the faculty that they are in a position to do so. Allowances are only granted to students aiming at their first degree; they are not awarded to Master's students and PhD candidates.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the first semesters of their Bachelor degree programme, so that it can be expected that they will be completing their degree within the nominal duration of the programme.
  • Applicants are expected to be in financial need. The scholarships are typically awarded to students who had to take on jobs in order to finance their studies and who are not able to continue working in their jobs in the final phase of their studies.

The allowance may be granted for a maximum of 6 months. In exceptional cases, scholarship holders may apply for an extension.

Details on the Application Process

Each term, students have the chance to apply for Degree Completion Grants. In 2013, the application dates are February 15, and June 30. The application form and application instructions are available for download. Alternatively, you can obtain the in print from the ISC at the International Office.
