Short-term Allowance for International Students of RWTH Aachen University Facing a Period of Exams

International Students enrolled in a degree programme at RWTH Aachen University (Diplom, Magister Artium, Teacher Training/Staatsexamen, Bachelor, Master), who are not receiving a scholarship and who are facing an intense period of exams, may apply for a short-term allowance, which will be granted for about two to three months. Students enrolled in postgraduate studies cannot be taken into consideration.

Funding is provided equally by the Doktor Carl-Arthur Pastor Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD); scholarship winners will be selected by a university commission.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants in Diplom, Magister and Teacher Training courses must have completed their intermediate exam, i.e. be in the "Hauptstudium" phase of their studies or complete their intermediate examination during the pending period of exams. Master's students must have successfully completed at least two semesters of study, Bachelor's students must have successfully completed three semesters of study.
• Applicants must have performed successfully during their first semesters of study so that it can be expected that they will be completing their degree roughly within the average duration of studies.
• The scholarships are typically awarded to students who have a (part-time) student job to finance their studies. The stipend should make it possible for these students to fully concentrate on the final phase of their studies.

Details on the Application Process

Each term, students have the chance to apply for Degree Completion Grants. In 2013, the application dates are February 15 and June 30. The application form and application instructions are available for download. Alternatively, you can obtain the in print from the ISC at the International Office.
