Who can receive a scholarship?

Young qualified researchers, who are not employed in a position that prepares them for doctoral studies or further research training after completing their doctoral degree. A young researcher is anyone whose degree or vocational training was completed no longer than ten years before the first scholarship is awarded and who is under the age of 41.

Duration of Funding

The duration of the scholarship depends on the content and goal of the training and further education, for which it is used.  However it encompasses at least twelve months. Scholarships can be extended twice, whereby the total duration may not exceed three years. This scholarship does not take earlier scholarships into consideration.

Scholarship Amount

The amount of the scholarship cannot exceed the DFG Graduate School funding rates. Income is calculated into the basic amount, and will not exceed more than 6000 Euros a year. A stipend for families can be additionally awarded upon application.

Fund Allocation

The financing of the scholarship must result from free third party funds, award money, or other funds used for this purpose from the requesting professor or university lecturer.

Scholarship Recall

RWTH Aachen maintains the right to recall the scholarship partially or completely and to make a claim for restitution.

The Registrar's Office is responsible for the application process. Applications can also be obtained here. You can also find it below under Downloads. There is no deadline for the application, which can be submitted to the Rector via the Dean, Division 1.2.
