Informal Network for Doctoral Candidates

The informal network for German and international doctoral students has been established in cooperation with the International Office and the Center for Doctoral Studies. The network gives doctoral students the opportunity to participate in an exchange of ideas and experiences beyond cultural and disciplinary boundaries. If you are interested in becoming part of the network or taking part in our meetings, please contact .

The Doc.net team also collaborates with the Forum for Female Doctoral Candidates which provides women researchers with a platform to exchange ideas and experience beyond disciplinary boundaries.

  • Additional Qualifications for PhD Students

The Center for Doctoral Studies at RWTH Aachen University (CDS), which is a partner of DoC.NET, provides PhD students with an additional skills training programme (except for PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine).

DocBuddy

The DocBuddy program matches new international PhD students and post-docs with locals who have been in Aachen longer. The purpose of this program is to get buddy pairs together so the local person can help the new person get their bearings in Aachen, and through this exchange, both the buddy and the mentee will gain experience with new cultures, languages and even research questions while having the opportunity to network with new contacts through DoC.NET/BeBuddy events.

The BeBuddy program for BA/MA students has grown to be a great success, with lots of participants reporting great experiences, and we are pleased that the program is now being extended to include PhD students and post-docs.
