Was ist eine Eidesstattliche Versicherung?

In an affidavit you swear under oath that you have not failed a course of study or subject at RWTH Aachen or a university within Germany or that you have not been barred from taking any required exams. A certificate of good standing is not required in this case.

The signed affidavit is a requirement to enroll in any Bachelor's, Staatsexamen, or Master's course of study.

If you make a false declaration under oath, you may be subject to legal consequences.

Certificate of Good Standing

When do I need a certificate of good standing?

You must submit a certificate of good standing if you have indicated in your affidavit that you did not pass a course of study or subject at RWTH Aachen or a university within Germany or can no longer be admitted to a required exam or have lost the right to take exams in your chosen course of study or subject at RWTH.

The form for the certificate of good standing can be downloaded together with the affidavit from the Self Service. Aside from the affidavit, the certificate of good standing is required to enroll in this case.

What is a certificate of good standing and what is its purpose?

If you are transferring to a different subject or are re-enrolling in a new course of study, a certificate of good standing ensures that you still have the right to be admitted to exams. If you conclusively failed an exam during your previous studies, it may mean that you have lost the right to take exams in another course of study. This happens, above all, if the same or an equivalent exam is also in your new course of study.

How do I request a certificate of good standing?

Download the form from the Self Service and the contact your departmental advisor at RWTH Aachen with the required information explained below. It can take up to 10 business days for the certificate of good standing to be issued. Please contact the departmental advisor for your course of study or subject as soon as possible. Note that if you are in a teacher training course of study that a certificate of good standing is required for each individual subject.

If you have studied at RWTH Aachen until now, you must submit a printout of your exam file, issued and signed by the ZPA or Central Examination Office. Important: The ZPA must have it on record that you still have the right to take exams. This applies to all courses of study and subjects, even if you are no longer enrolled in them.

If you have previously studied at another university, submit either a printout from your exam file, your list of subjects, or transcript of records with all academic performance you have completed thus far together with a confirmation that you still have the right to take exams. This applies to all courses of study and subjects, even if you are no longer enrolled in them.
