Climate-KIC, a public-private partnership that is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology as a "Knowledge Innovation Community," promotes the collaboration between European research institutions, universities, governments, and businesses in the arena of climate change. The goal is to support the worldwide transition to a sustainable, climate-friendly economy,  to drive innovation in the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation, and to strengthen Europe's economy.

Experimental economic research at RWTH Aachen is now possible: The university invested 55,000 Euros in the new "AIXperiment" lab.  It is equipped with 30 computers and a server room and offers excellent conditions.

Chemical, medication and cosmetic manufacturers are obligated to test their products for possible health risks using appropriate means, as stipulated by various European guidelines. Animal testing is frequently used to determine the dangers of such products to the human eye. Aside from ethical reasons, arguments against this form of testing include high costs, delays due to approval procedures, and concerns whether the results from animal testing can be extrapolated safely to human beings.

Signing a memorandum of understanding, the E.ON Energy Research Center (E.ON ERC) at RWTH Aachen University and the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, have formalized their future collaboration on researching and teaching energy research, specifically in the areas of energy saving, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly energy systems. The planned cooperation is another important building block in E.ON ERC's globally applied International Energy Cooperation Program, which is to intensify the international exchange with prestigious universities around the world.
