Dates and Deadlines
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities has offered the Master course of study, European Studies (MES), since WS 2006/07. It is primarily intended for graduates who completed their Bachelor degree in a cultural, legal, economic, or social science oriented discipline as well other European oriented programs. The MES offers a deeper look at the historical, legal, political, economic, social, and cultural problems in Europe, particularly within the European Union. It is also possible to acquire or expand knowledge of a chosen foreign language. The course of study culminates in the career qualifying degree Master of Arts (M.A.). It consists of:

- Language Education - The exam colloquium
- Exams:The Master's exam consists of exams during the course of study within the studied modules and the Master's thesis.
The Master course of study is broken into modules. Modules typically consist of courses that either thematically or methodically correspond with another. Modules are also linked to exams (see above) that take place throughout the course of study.

Prerequisites
A prerequisite for starting studies in a first university degree, with which the necessary background education can be proven, as determined in the exam regulations. The exam board determines whether it fulfills the entrance requirements.

Examination Regulations
Exam regulations govern the requirements for starting studies in §3. Furthermore, they regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures. The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.
