Dates and Deadlines

 

Against the backdrop of a profession whose image is constantly changing, the Faculty is guided by its claim to provide generalist academic architecture studies in the form of its Master program. Here, the focus is on design and structural aspects, which account for over half of the program content. In cooperative ventures that can change in terms of subject and people, all our faculty put current issues in construction, in social and technological change in society, and in maintaining our cultural heritage, as well as the cultural and historical identity of cities and regions, at the center of their teaching and research.

 

Degree Content

There are five main topics within the Faculty of Architecture:

  • Cultural and Historical Fundamentals
  • Design, Portrayal, Visualization, Communication
  • Design and Drafting
  • Building Planning and Design
  • Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Design

The content and qualification goals of the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Architecture courses of study and modules use the standards of professional associations for archictects and urban planners and the standards of European and international educational guidelines as minimum standards.  These demands are first fulfilled after completion of both courses of study (Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Science in Architecture resp. Master of Science in Urban Planning).

 

Prerequisites

Enrollment Prerequisite
Admission for this course of study is via a faculty-internal portfolio review of the application portfolios submitted.  Here, it will be determined whether applicants who have not completed the Bachelor course of study in Architecture at RWTH Aachen meet the requirements for successfully studying the Master course of study in Architecture.

A six-month internship must be documented.

Examination Regulations

Examination regulations  regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures.  The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.
