    RWTH Aachen self assessments are online advising processes for deciding what to study. Participation in one (rarely two) of these self assessments is mandatory. You can find which self assessment you need to take for this subject in the course of study description under "Prerequisites". You will need to show proof of participation in a subject specific self assessment in order to enroll (not to apply). You can print out the participation certificate yourself.

Business Administration focuses on the operational functions and the learning of abilities, that are necessary for the proper and successful direction of a company.  Various branches of Business Administration will be looked at more closely, such as:

What is the difference between Business Administration and Economics?
In contrast to business administration, economics focuses on the analysis and prognosis of overall economic relationships and the development of suggestions and measures to influence them.

 

Degree Content

 

The typical length of study for the Bachelor course of study is six semesters, including a Bachelor thesis.  Studies encompass 180 credit points, that are distributed over 100 semester week hours (SWS).  On average, each semester containts 30 credit points. 

The Bachelor course of study is composed of a mandatory component, a elective, an internship or study abroad, and the written Bachelor thesis. 

The mandatory component encompasses the areas

  • General Economics
  • Business Administrative Accounting
  • Private Law
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics

The elective area is made up of 3-4 economic modules that you can choose from a catalogue. Students will additionally complete basic modules. These facilitate knowledge that help students prepare and present content and promote general knowledge, such as methodological, language, self-, transdisciplinary, and intercultural skills, and student involvement.

Furthermore, it is mandatory to take a seminar in the chosen business administrative career field.

By the end of their studies, students must have shown proof of either a economic study abroad or relevant professional activity of at least twelve weeks in length. 

Each year about 150-200 students are enrolled at RWTH Aachen in the Bachelor course of study in Business Administration. , so that the faculty-student ration can be kept comparatively low.

Proximity to the tri-border area lends itself particularly to study abroad.

Prerequisites

 

Personal Prerequisites
Good English and math skills are essential for successful completion of studies. We highly recommend taking the RWTH Aachen general mathematics bridge course, and above all special bridge courses offered during the first semester, since the course of study at RWTH Aachen is distinguished by its quantitative orientation.

With a Bachelor of Science, students can either directly start work or begin a Master course of study after submitting the necessary enrollment criteria.  RWTH Aachen offers a corresponding consecutive Master of Science RWTH Aachen University (M.Sc.RWTH) in Business Administration.
