In order to ensure optimal study conditions among the increasing numer of students, numerous building projects are being implemented at RWTH Aachen until the 2013/2014 winter semester.

In addition to rooms for accomodating the teaching staff, the university needs more spaces in order to keep the whole operation of teaching smoothly functioning. The planning for the new construction of the large lecture hall center on Claßenstrße is supposed to take care of this need.  The construction work for the lecture hall center on Professor-Pirlet-Straße is already underway and spaces for practical experiences in the Sammelbau Chemistry and Biology are being created. One student work house on the parking lot grounds behind the Reiff-Museum and new chemistry practical experience building are made possible through means from the Hochschulpakt II. Additionally, necessary renovations are being completed as well as buildings and offices leased. As long as crucial construction projects are still in the implementation phase, movie theaters must be used in the mornings for lectures, as has been the case since May 2011. In order to meet the need for learning spaces, the basement floor in the SuperC has been turned into a study room since May 2011 as well. Additional teaching and learning areas should be created, and exisiting areas made optimally useable by winter semester 2013/2014.
