Since winter semester 2009/2010, RWTH Aachen has supported its students in ensuring that they still have a right to examination in their course of study, if they change subjects or re-enroll after discontinuing their studies. The certificate of good standing serves this purpose. Without it, re-enrollment and changing a degree program are not possible.

What is the purpose of the certificate of good standing?

If you did not pass an assessment in your previous studies, it may mean that you do not have a right to examination in another course of study either. This happens, above all, if the same or equivalent exam is also in your new course of study.

If you have already studied in a course of study at RWTH Aachen or at other universities at home or abroad, you must submit a request to the responsible RWTH Aachen examination board to have your positive or negative assessment achievements recognized or calculated, before you can enroll or change your course of study.

Calculation of positive and negative assessment achievements may also be combined with placement in a higher course semester. You can then directly enroll in this course of study or apply for a semester with restricted admission within the deadline. You can find the application deadlines on the page Semester Dates.

Please contact the contact persons named below in the course of study, in which you would like study. The examination board of your "old" subject or old university is no longer the responsible body.

Master Courses of Study

If you would like to begin Master's studies at RWTH Aachen, you only need to submit a certificate of good standing if you were already enrolled in a Master course of study. The examination boards of the respective RWTH Aachen faculties are the body responsible in this matter.
