Application for a Higher Semester
International Prospective Students
We explain the application process for all other international prospective students under:
Restricted Admission Bachelor's and Master's Course of Study
Some courses of study have restricted admission in their higher semesters, that is starting the second core semester, and require an application. Please refer to our courses of study or the current RWTH Info on Applying for a Higher Semester, see the download box, to determine which courses of study are affected.
You can download the RWTH Info on Applying for a Higher Semester at the bottom of this page around the middle of July for the winter semester and around the middle of January for the summer semester.
Please send your application for a higher semester in the medicine or dentistry courses of study to the RWTH Aachen Registrar's Office. The Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung is only the correct contact for applicants for the first semester.
There are only a certain number of spots available in the higher semesters of every restricted admission course of study and the corresponding higher semester. The number of students who re-enrolled before the re-enrollment deadline is subtracted from this set number.
If there are still spots available after the re-enrollment deadline has passed, they will allocated to applicants in the corresponding subject and semester through a selection process.
Please note: You will only be notified if you have been accepted after the application deadline. Rejection letters are not mailed. You can find the enrollment deadline in the admissions letter.
Open Admission Master's Course of Study
In order to enroll in a higher core semester of an open admission Master's course of study, you must apply by the deadline and have your background education reviewed (acceptance letter with provisions) by the respective Faculty's examination board. If you do not apply by the deadline, you cannot enroll in a higher core semester.
