Childcare During Events

The Family Services Center organizes additional childcare free of cost during events at the university, as a special services for members of institutes, central institutions, and other RWTH Aachen institutions. This includes events that take place regularly and those that do not, such as  galas, conferences, symposiums, workshops, or award ceremonies.

 

When can I use the childcare?

We would like to close the childcare gaps, that particularly arise during the afternoon, evening, and weekends through additional events.  If you would like to use the childcare services, please email the Family Services Center two weeks before the event.

What services does the Family Services Center offer?

• Registration forms for parents
• Leasing or provision of spaces, in direct proximity to the event, when possible
• Child and age appropriate equipment in the spaces, with toys, craft materials, and quiet and retreat areas
• Qualified personnel with childcare experience

The hosting institution assumes provision for the children and childcare providers in agreement with the Family Services Center, for childcare lasting more than three hours. If there is no suitable, room free of charge within the university available, the hosting institution carries the costs for renting and utilizing suitable rooms. The Family Services Center reserves the right to not provide childcare if there are less than three children, and to offer an alternative instead

 

Emergency Childcare

The Family Services Center offers mediation for emergency childcare for children from four months to twelve years of age with day care providers or educational specialists in the Aachen region.

Emergency childcare can be requested due

• sudden illness of your child
• loss of regular childcare, for example through the caregiver falling ill
• unplanned working hourse, for example meetings or exams

 

Looking for a Babysitter?

Are you looking for someone who can care for your child, either hourly or regularly? Then contact us.  We have experienced and educated babysitters available through a comprehensive file.  Childcare is possible for all ages both during the week and on the weekend.  We will gladly advise you over the phone or in person.  Additionally, we will provide you with detailed information on insurance coverage, legal responsibility, and compensation possibilities at private childcare providers.

 

Car Seat Rental for Personal Vehicles

Do you suddenly need a car seat or would like to bring your child along with the RWTH Aachen Driving Service?

The Family Services Center, in collaboration with the Driving Service, offers all university members the possiblity to rent a car seat for one or multiple time use. The seats are intended for children between 4 months and 3 years of age, and can be rented last minute, upon request.
