RWTH Welcomes New International Students

24/08/2016

The Welcome Days for the 2016/17 winter semester will be held August 29 and September 2, as well as October 5 and 6, 2016.

At the beginning of the winter semester RWTH will once again welcome hundreds of international students from around the world. Many of the newcomers are leaving their family homes and home countries for a longer period of time for the first time. Settling into a foreign environment and facing new learning and teaching methods pose great challenges. In order to ensure they have a succesful start to their studies and settle in quickly in the university community, RWTH offers a series of mentorship and assistance programs. During the first welcome event new students receive important information about studies and life in Aachen.

The welcome events will be held on August 29 and September 2 as well as October 5 and 6. The events are not public, but the media is welcome to attend by appointment. Please contact Bettina Schuppe at +49 241 80 90682 or bettina.schuppe@zhv.rwth-aachen.de.

The program's focus is introducing the University with its central advising offers. As an external institution, the Immigration Office for the city region is offering a presentation on visas and residence rights. Aside from the presentations there will also be an information market, where departmental advisors from the Faculties and all central RWTH advising offices will introduce themselves to new students and give them important tips for a successful start to their studies. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a tour of the RWTH campus.

The entire program will be offered in English.
