Diversity in Higher Education: University Study – Teaching – Staff Development

Wednesday, July4 till Thursday, July 5, 2018

The equality of opportunities is a decisive prerequisite for excellent research and teaching as well as an innovative, lively university culture. Implementing equal opportunities, however, requires the structural integration of strategies and measures promoting diversity.

Intensive debates at universities, universities of applied sciences and research institutions have increasing led to the establishment of diversity management in higher education institutions, frequently based on a diversity strategy. Emphasis is placed on equitable education, the inclusion of underrepresented groups, and the development of strategies with which address societal, sociopolotical and global challenges.

Against this backdrop, the symposium, which has been jointly organized by RWTH and FH Aachen, provides the opportunity to discuss the potential of diversity and how to manage and benefit from heterogeneity in teaching and research with high-profile speakers.
