Vocation Description

Glass instrument makers pursue their profession in workshops and studios.  They create individual glass instruments and hollow glassware by hand, that are used in labs for medical research or in process engineering in numerous branches of the industry.  Technical drawings serve as models for manipulating the glass and metal.  Vacuum equipment, table burners, and hand-held burners help you in your work.

Despite the use of various machines, the occupation is one primarily done by hand: separating, putting together, setting, and curving of glass, blowing air, swelling and crimping, melting together, creating glass insturments, measuring and checking semifinished and finished products.
