Vocation Description

Textile laboratory assistants work in a research and development lab or in the textile industry.  The complete their assigned duties independently, record results from tests, investigations, and observations in a log, and analyze and evaluate them.  In the chemical industry, you are involved in the development and testing of new dyes and textile auxiliary agents, for the grafting  of natural and chemical fibers, threads, and fabrics.  You test and improve existing products, support customers in finding a solution for application problems, and perform quality controls.  Textile laborary assistants are specialists in company labs in the textile industry.  They test dyed material for light fastness, investigate textile products for their wrinkle resistance, elasticity, and the capacity to withstand stresses, and clear up cases of damage and customer complaints.  Various lab, testing, and measuring instruments, as well as high performance microscopes and computers are available to you to use for your analytical and application-related work.
