Application Master for Internationals
You must always apply for admission to a Master's program. In addition to the majority of courses of study taught in German, RWTH Aachen University also offers some degree programs taught entirely in English.
Online Application
The application process is entirely online – click on the link below. You will not have to send any documents to RWTH by postal mail.
The application period for winter semester 2023/24 for applicants from EU/EEA countries as well as for students already enrolled at RWTH starts May 2, 2023.
International students not from an EU/EEA country can apply for open-admission Master's courses of study starting in the 2024 summer semester from June 1, 2023.
Application for a German or English Language Master's Course of Study
You must first check the application deadlines further down this page. Applications are only accepted during certain periods and will not be accepted at other times.
The first step to applying is to make sure you have all the required documents as PDFs – you can find a list of these documents further down this page.
Once you have these PDFs ready, fill out the online application form – you can find the link to the online application form in the yellow box entitled Online Application on the top right of this page.
You will need the following documents to apply (upload these as PDFs at the end of your application):
- Copy of your transcript of records or your diploma supplement. Please submit a transcript of records with all the semesters you have studied. When you apply you have to be able to provide grades all the semesters you have studied except your last two semesters of study.
- A module catalog or course descriptions of all the courses you completed in your studies. If these are available on your university’s webpage, you can also upload a PDF that shows the link to this page. If you do not, or cannot upload a module catalog, the respective Examination Board will still review your application for your eligibility for your chosen course(s) of study. Your application may however have to be rejected due to your missing module catalog.
- If you are applying to start a course of study in a higher core semester: a copy of your final academic transcript.
- Tabular resume
Additional documents required by the Examination Board of your Master's course of study (for example Graduate Record of Examination (GRE) result, TestAS). Please check the webpages for your chosen course(s) of study carefully to find out if you need to submit any additional documents in your application.
Translation of Your Documents
If your documents were not issued in German or English, you must have a certified translator translate them into either German or English. The copies do not need to be notarized. Please note that in such cases, the copy of the translation or the copy of the original alone is insufficient – make sure to upload both!
