03/04/2014

Scientists from RWTH Aachen, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, and Forschungszentrum Jülich in Aachen met together at the 28th Umbrella Symposium.

This year's focus was on the topic "Biomaterials and Biohybrids from Basic Research to Medical Applications” and the development of joint project ideas. Presentations included "Cell-Biomaterial Interaction – Mechanobiology,“ "Polymeric Systems for Bio Applications,“ "Regenerative Medicine & Implant Imaging,“ and "Therapeutic and Diagnostic Tools“.

The Umbrella Collaboration, through which the symposium took place, was founded in 1983 under the patronage of then Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Johanne Rau. Representatives from the three institutions will meet in Israel in 2015 for the 29th Umbrella Symposium.
