WDR Editor-in-Chief Sonia Mikich at RWTH Aachen

WDR editor-in-chief Sonia Mikich will be speaking at RWTH Aachen on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Her lecture, titled "Think big – Journalism as a way of life" begins at 6pm in the Aula of the RWTh Main Building, Templergraben 55 in Aachen.

 

Mikich is visiting the University at the invitation of RWTHextern within the framework of the "At the Focus" series. The event will be moderated by Professor Emmanuel Richter from the RWTH Institute of Political Science. Admission is free of charge. Registration is not required.

Mikich, born July 13, 1951 in Oxford and raised in London, was in training with Aachener Volkszeitung. Afterwards she studied political science, sociology and philosophy at RWTH Aachen University. She wrote for Emma, completed a traineeship at WDR, worked as a correspondent in Moscow, and, in 1996, became the first woman to serve as head of the local ARD studio there. Since May 2014 Sonia Seymour Mikich is the WDR TV editor-in-chief. There she is, among others, responsible for international reporting, investigative journalism, documentaries, coverage of business news and sports, the ARD-Morgenmagazin program, and the Tagesschau editorial team.
