Arab Ambassadors Visit RWTH Aachen
Chancellor Manfred Nettekoven and Professor Dr.-Ing. Robert Schmitt, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Rector's Delegate for Arab Countries, welcomed a delegation from Arab states to RWTH Aachen.
On the initiative of the German-Arab Friendship Association in Berlin the group has been visiting individual federal states for the past year. The members of the delegation are Arab ambassadors accredited in Germany. During their trip through North Rhine-Westphalia they are being accompanied by the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Research.
The purpose of the visit is to intesify scientific and business relationships in the Arab world. Chancellor Nettekoven gave an overview of the development, the potential for innovation, and RWTH's strategic proposal. At the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL Professor Schmitt presented the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering's diverse study opportunities and numerous research areas. RWTH and the WZL are closely linked to the Arab countries through the German University of Technology in Oman, GUtech for short. The rector of the only German university on the Arab peninsula is currently RWTH professor, Dr.-Ing. Michael Modigell, who also spoke to the guests about GUtech.
The visit to RWTH was organized by the RWTH International Office and Magarete Beye from the Ministry's Department of International Collaboration Strategy.
