From Pixels to Virtual Worlds

In collaboration with RWTHextern, the Institute for Communications Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, IENT for short, will be hosting a Technology on Tour event. The guided tour will begin at 3:30pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

Approximately 80 percent of all data transmitted via the internet are video signals. The IENT is working on techniques to compress video signals in such a way as to still allow for robust data transmisson. During the guided tour, participants will have the opportunity to view first-hand the recent developments in this area. These range from videos shown on large screens in ultra HD resolution to circle surround videos, which offer a 360 degree view with the help of virtual reality glasses, so-called VR-glasses.

The tour is offered free of charge. Meeting point will be in the foyer of the Institute at Melatener Straße 23, Aachen. The number of participants is limited to 20. Please register for the event by June 12, 2018 by calling us at +49 241 80 93888 or by sending an email to RWTHextern.
