Engineering, Culture and Society
Reflecting on the individual role of an engineer in society – this was the focus of an interdisciplinary and international seminar at RWTH Aachen University, titled "Engineering, Culture and Society."
Building on the concept of "RRI - Responsible Research and Innovation," the seminar was to put the participating students in a position to integrate the demands of a diverse society and ethical aspects of technological developments into their future professional practice.
Applying the method of Design Thinking, the students of the courses "Management and Engineering – Water" and "Management and Engineering – Time" addressed the topic of sustainable and socially responsible innovation design. After an intense week of group activities, the international student teams presented the developed prototypes.
The seminar was organized by the GDI under the direction of Professor Carmen Leicht-Scholten and Linda Steuer.
