Shock – Fear – Euphoria: The Beginning of the War in 1914 in Aachen
How did Aacheners experience the beginning of the war in 1914? Was this city a stage for nationalistically blinded enthusiasm for the war or did fright and scepticism shape the mood? The exhibition Shock – Fear – Euphoria provides answers.
Exhibits are displayed that reflect everyday life in Aachen in the summer of 1914 and a glance at the relationship between military, technical university, and civil society.
The exhibition, a collaboration between the RWTHextern Citizens' Forum and the RWTH Aachen Institute of History, is open from June 23 to July 18, 2014, in the RWTH Main Building, Templergraben 55, Room 130, on the same floor as the Aula.
The exhibition is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free of charge.
