EU Delegation Visits RWTH
The aim of the visit was to discuss the future role of universities.
How can a university like RWTH foster entrepreneurial thinking and promote the joy of experimentation among its students, thus encouraging them to set up their own businesses? What are the best ways to establish a research-industry ecosystem based on the University’s cutting-edge research?
Such questions were discussed by the University’s Rectorate, a group of researchers including professors Thomas Bergs and Max Lemme, and the members of a high-profile delegation from the European Union.
The delegation was also hosted by the RWTH’s Collective Incubator, the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL), and AMO GmbH, an affiliated institute of RWTH, where they learned more about the University’s approaches to creating a culture of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The delegation included Peter Dröll, Director of Prosperity of the Research & Innovation Directorate-General; Jürgen Tiedje, head of Industrial Transformation; Liviu Stirbat, head of Industry 5.0; Iiro Eerola, Valorisation Policies and IPR; and Andrea Ceglia, DG Research & Innovation.
